"Perched on top of the clouds on the horizon was what looked like a small city. The city was made of gold, silver, and bronze buildings that bobbed up and down as the clouds drifted through the sky. The buildings were connected by floating paths that continuously grew or shrank depending on how far the wind blew the structures apart" |
— Alchemy Institute description[1] |

Motto[]
“ | Where exceptional innovation meets extraordinary imagination | ” |
— Motto of the institute[3]
|
The motto was located on a gear that rotated around the path (towards the Alchemy Institute) like an arch.[3]
History[]
The Alchemy Institute had been around for thousands of years, the alchemists only interacted with humans and other creatures only when the planet was in danger because they were "her devoted protectors",[4]
Description[]
The Alchemy Institute was a secret institute in the sky. Each branch of alchemy had a department dedicated towards it, some were big and majestic and some were small and plain.

Physics Department[]
The entrance was engraved with the formula E = mc2, it led into a tall room with no windows and four white walls. A bunch of objects (like yo-yos and red balls) were hurtling through the air.[3]
The Physics Department was where the alchemists studied the laws of motion. The Magbots took notes and took measurements in the department.
Chemistry Department[]
The Department was next door to the Physics Department.[5] The department was covered in long glass tubes that zig-zagged and looped across a big laboratory. The floor was tiled and every tile was labeled with an abbreviation from the periodic table.[5]
Biology Department[]
The department was like a huge three-story prison, each prison cell contained a weird and ugly creature. The department was apparently a containment facility for microorganisms but bigger (because of magic). The Biology Department not only contained animal and human microorganisms but also viruses and bacteria.[6]
Former and Current Inhabitants of the Biology Department[]
- Carole, the common cold.
Entomology Department[]
Four out of five walls contained different colonies of ants, bees, wasps, and termites. The other wall was a canvas with thousands of exotic insects on it, The rafters were home to thousands of spiders and cobwebs. A large amount of moths flew around a giant lantern. In the center of the department, a massive magnifying glass was used as a table.[7]
Former and Current Inhabitants of the Entomology Department[]
- Amy, a queen ant.
- Tina, a queen termite.
- Lori the ladybug, a ladybug that loves romance novels.
- Gary the grasshopper, he is a grasshopper that is addicted to gambling.
- Derrick the daddy longlegs, "he is an excellent tap dancer".
- Betty the dung beetle, a dung beetle with OCD.
- Mandy the Mantis, a conservative mantis.
- Mitchell, a mosquito that was almost finished with medical school but was killed by Emerelda.
Zoology Department[]
The department was a giant aviary for all kinds of animals. There were eagles, monkeys, lions, elephants, blue whales, giant squids, and many more. The department hosted many hybrid animals like a bearwolf, a dogfin, or a slothger.[8]
Botany Department[]
This department was a five-story greenhouse, it contained every type of plant imaginable. The Magbots told bad jokes to the plants and also watered and pruned them as well as played classical music for them.[9]
Physiology Department[]
The department was huge nine-story building that was shaped like a human. The interior was the anatomically correct replica of the human body.[10]
Meteorology Department[]
This department was located in a tower with thermometers built into it. Every door and roof was shaped like an umbrella and a different type of storm was located in each of the towers' floors. The Magbots monitored the weather patterns and as they were doing the task got tossed around by a powerful tornadoes, or were drenched from tropical hurricanes, etc.[11]
Mathematics Department[]
Magbots sat at desks doing complicated math equations by hand or swiping the beads on counting frames. The walls were made from chalkboards and on them was written the endless equation of pi, as the the equation grew, so did the chalkboard walls.[11]
Anthropology Department[]
The Anthropology Department was an enormous cave that was covered in artwork and handprints from ancient times. The department also displayed many fossils that had been magically reanimated.[12]
Geography Department[]
“ | The Geography Department was laid out like a formal ballroom. It had curtains made from maps and flags, a glimmering chandelier made from large compasses, and a grand staircase made from stacks of atlases. A beautiful silver globe was positioned in the very center of the department, and as different locations were pinned with a magic pin, the spacious floor rose and sunk to create a miniature model of different location’s terrain.[12] | ” |
Astrology Department[]
{{Quote|1=The department was under a humongous dome and equipped with a six-story golden telescope. Magic holograms of distant planets, stars, and galaxies drifted through the air all around them—the holograms were so realistic, the girls used each other as shields to protect themselves from unexpected comets and meteor showers.[13]
Geology Department[]
The department was a narrow room that housed a couple piles of rocks.[14]
“ | Well this is overwhelming | ” |
— Lucy Goose, sarcastically, about the Geology Department.[14]

Conference Room[]
The conference room was a large circular room at the top of the institute's tallest building. It also had a large circular table with twelve seats for each representative in the Land of Stories.[15]
