A group of villages in the Northern Kingdom was constantly under attack by wolves. They begged the kingdom's ruler, the Evil Queen, for help, but as she refused, the villagers revolted and started their own kingdom. They built a huge wall around it so wolves couldn't get in.
Red Riding Hood was elected as a queen, the first elected queen in the history of the Land of Stories. According to the narrative of The Enchantress Returns, the villagers felt that her story was the most symbolic of their struggle. The only other candidate was the Third Little Pig, but he declined. In Queen Red Riding Hood's Guide to Royalty, Red remembers the election a little differently: she mentions that Granny was asked first, but declined, and Billy Bopkins was suggested (but turned down due to being a goat), and everyone then looked to her, and she quickly accepted.
Red also says Granny was very active in the revolution and caught a cold during a hunger strike- which leads to Red's mother sending Little Red Riding Hood into the forest to visit her grandmother. Red claims she didn't know the Big Bad Wolf in Granny's bed wasn't her because according to Red, Granny was always dressing up strangely as a form of protest.
A negative result of the C.R.A.W.L. Revolution was the rise of the Big Bad Wolf Pack.
The C.R.A.W.L. Committee
In Queen Red Riding Hood's Guide to Royalty, Red mentions that the revolutionaries were lead by a committee that consisted of "a farmer, a shepherdess, three village elders, and a chicken", and they appointed the queen.
