"They were all short but very thin. Everything about them was pointed: they had pointed ears, pointed jaws, pointed shoes, and some even wore pointed cone hats. their clothing was black and white and asymmetrical. They wore vests that buttoned sideways; their pant legs and sleeves were different lengths." |

The elves home
According to Alex, the elves' clothes looked so unusual because they were horrible at making their own clothes, like in the story "The Shoemaker and the Elves".
The elves lived in the Elf Empire, lead by Empress Elvina. They lived as a very closely united society and protected themselves by isolating themselves from the rest of the Land of Stories.
“ | The elves never get involved unless they have to.[2] | ” |
History[]
The earliest mentioned ruler of the Elf Empire is King Elvin, father to Prince Elron, Prince Elrik, and Queen Elvina. King Elvin briefly joins the Conference of Kings at the Alchemy Institute during A Tale of Sorcery....
A Tale of Sorcery...[]
In A Tale of Sorcery..., King Elvin is called to the Conference of Kings at the Alchemy Institute to discuss the fires that are endangering the entire world and being blamed on Xanthous Hayfield. He brings with him his son, Prince Elrond. When a vote is taken up on whether or not to solve the problem by killing Xanthous, he votes in favor. He sends Prince Elrond with Brystal Evergreen to locate and acquire the Book of Sorcery. Prince Elrond dies during the mental challenge in place before the book when he chooses the wrong path based on a misinterpretation of the riddle given.
Xanthous takes shelter with the elves while on the run from the rulers of the kingdoms. He stays there under the alias of Xach Fairchild so as to be sure the king will not recognize him. He meets Elrik, the elf prince, and has a romantic connection with him. He meets the elf king, Elvin, and Elrik's sister, Elvina, the future elf queen.
"Unlike other elves, who were traditionally small and slender, the royal family were tall and broad shouldered. The king had long dark hair, and he wore a wide crown made from tree branches and a black-and-white-checkered suit... King Elvin only traveled with one guest - his eldest son, Prince Elron. The prince was the spitting image of his father, but wore a much smaller crown made from sticks."[3]
