The Witches arriving from the portal

The New York City Portal was a spontaneous portal, meaning it opened by itself without the use of a spell or potion. The Sisters Grimm, who studied the occurrence of spontaneous portals, had predicted its location and estimated opening and shares this knowledge with Bree.
Because of the time difference between the two worlds, the Sisters Grimm could not make an accurate estimate, but knew it would happen "within the next 6 months". The portal would stay open longer than the previous spontaneous portals have, giving the people and creatures of both worlds plenty of time to travel between them.
It appeared as a ghostly orb which descended from the sky and transformed into a small rectangular window. Before it manifested, however, it would appear briefly in other places as a window in a spiral toward its final location.
It is revealed that Morina knew of the upcoming portal and planned to use it to take over the Otherworld with the other witches.[1] The President of the United States was informed that there was “a situation” in New York which was referring to Alex.[2]
