Publisher's Summary & Jacket Interior Summary
Publisher's summary: “Once upon a time, there was a little girl who didn’t quite fit in. When she runs away, she happens upon a curvy tree who helps her understand the importance of being different.”
Jacket interior summary: "Once upon a time, there was a little girl who didn't fit in. The other girls laughed at her, and one day she ran away to the forest.
She soon discovered a tree unlike any she had ever seen: His roots were winding, his trunk was curled, and his branches looped toward the sky.
Together, the Curvy Tree and the little girl learn that being unique is something to celebrate."
A little girl who is teased by the other girls in her town for being different runs away and meets an unusual tree in the forest. He tells her the story about how he was the only tree that wasn't cut down by the loggers because he was different, too- and that he found out there were other trees like him after all. The girl finds out there are also friends to be found for her past the horizon.
Connection to the main TLOS series
The story of the Curvy Tree is also featured in The Wishing Spell and The Enchantress Returns. In the main series, it can be found in the Northern Kingdom, and doesn't talk. The reason he is curvy and loopy is that Ezmia bespelled him.
The picture book does not mention the Land of Stories, and can be read seperately from the series.
[to be added upon release]
"You may feel different and you may feel alone, but one day you'll grow and discover that there are many friends to be found if you look past the horizon."
"There is no need to cry, for, you see, in every forest there's a curvy tree."
